So Much to Say!

Daniel loves to "preach" holding the rings for one of his toys or the edge pieces to his mat.  He will talk for a long time waving things in the air.  It's really pretty entertaining to us. 

This is especially for you, Aunt B!

Tonight, for some reason, Welles kept asking Daniel if he was part of the Lollypop Guild.

Is it the hair?  The outfit?  Stiff movements?

We went to Linville Caverns and participated in the guided tour.  They actually turned the lights off for two minutes.  Daniel did great when they turned the lights off - did not make a peep!

Oh the simple things in life

Our baby loves balloons.  My parents brought him a "get well" balloon when he was sick in June.  I really think it helped him feel better.  Ever since, he notices balloons wherever we go.  The night before we left for vacation, we were in Publix and just so happened to have the camera with us. 

My dad got him some balloons in Linville that floated around the house for several days.  Looks like Daniel's first birthday will have to have lots and lots of balloons!

One night, he was quite irritable and I decided to put some ice on his tray.  My mom said that ice was a great trick to keep Bonnie (Aunt B) busy when she was acting out in a restaurant.  It works for Daniel, too!

Empty water bottles also have the same "soothing" effect!  This is also a great way to keep him occupied in the car when he gets fussy!

Blue Ridge Mountains

What a vacation!  We had a wonderful time in the Blue Ridge mountains last week!  It was a vacation unlike any other we had - first with a baby; and first to the mountains of North Carolina.  The house we stayed in was so nice -- Thank you so much Heather and Phillip for opening your mountain home to us! We were worried when my parents told us that there was no air conditioning at the house we were staying in.  Little did we know - you don't need it. It was so nice to be in a place that had upper 70's temps during the day and mid-60 temps at night.  The air was so crisp and there was so much to do! 

Daniel did pretty well.  He loved the hikes and the mountain breeze.  We are thankful to my parents for helping us with him and for keeping him a couple of times while we had a much needed break. 


Daniel's schedule is completely off, now.  We woke up at 11:30 last night to feed him a bottle and again at 4:30 this morning.  It will be nice to get him back on his 10 hour-a-night sleeping schedule!  Check out our pictures below.

My dad kept Daniel so we could explore Linville Falls with my mom. 

What an exhausting, but well-worth-it hike!

Hike around Price Lake.  We met a Park Ranger there named Linda, and she gave us a tour around the lake.  Daniel loved her! 

We saw a deer on our hike at Price Lake!  I got about 50 yards from her and she looked up - so beautiful.
