The couponing saddle. I took a couple of weeks off...and we paid for it. So, I went back to Publix with my coupons and deal list in hand and got the following items for $9.43.
4 Ronzoni Pasta
1 Publix Greenwise Toilet Paper (4 pack)
1 half gallon Simply Smart milk
2 Sargento Shredded cheese
2 Knorr Rice Sides
1 loaf of Sara Lee Bread
The bill should have been $27. So - I paid 1/3...not so bad. The sale at Publix went "live" today, and there were so many things "sold out." I guess that's par for the course when you are a full-time working mama. What I should do is get Welles to take Daniel to daycare while I shop first thing Wednesday mornings when the sale starts. Not a bad idea if I do say so myself!
Today Daniel started a new class...we joke that he skipped a grade! He moved from the Waddler's class to Little Bears. The teachers are so nice and did a great job of transitioning them several weeks before today.
The first picture is of Daniel coloring before we left home. He was in a great mood and ready to smile for the camera.
As soon as he got to school, he walked to the reading area and picked up a book - about a bear! Coincidence??? Who knows, but we are very proud of our little buddy and everything he is learning at "school."
After work and school, we met Welles' family at New York Pizza for dinner. It's no surprise that Daniel's favorite part of the outing was the "game room." He made some friends - members of our church.
We went to Homewood Park and Pool this morning and had a great time! Daniel met his first playmate - born just a few weeks after him. I think they will be good buddies this summer! Aunt B joined us, and we got to see Grandmom, Cousin Heidi and Aunt Jill. Uncle David and Cousin Tyler were playing in the big pool.
We had a wonderful weekend at the beach with my parents! Daniel loved the sand and pool, and overall had a great time. Here are some pictures from our trip:
I coordinated UAB's two commencement ceremonies on Saturday. Everything went very well - I feel more comfortable in that role after each graduation ceremony.
Daniel spent the day playing with his daddy at "I love Homewood Day" and apparently had a great time! So great, in fact, that he fell sound asleep on their way home.
After Graduation, I rushed to my parents home to get ready for another celebration - the wedding of Katie and Michael. This was the most beautiful wedding! I got a picture of the cake:
The food was delicious, the cake was even better, and the band was rocking! We had a wonderful time, and wish the happy couple well!
Our beloved Tuscaloosa was hit last week as were several cities just north of Birmingham. We are so fortunate that although Bluff Park was hit, we didn't have damage at our house. Ashley sent me this video this morning and I wanted to share it.
Please take time to look at the video - the pictures are absolutely incredible, and I honestly do not recognize so many of the places that I used to know. My heart breaks for my college town and for those that are hurting all across Alabama.
A friend that I work with at UAB shared some pictures with us from her neighborhood. She lives in Pleasant Grove which was also hit very hard in the tornados that swept our state. She said that she really has to focus when she drives home because nothing is familiar anymore; she doesn't recognize streets or the turns that she needs to make to get to her home. But thankfully, her home is still standing just two streets away from this complete distruction:
Please pray for the families that lived in these homes and for our state. Out of 63 counties, 36 are receiving aid becuase of the destruction that tore through the state. Please pray for our entire state and for those that are volunteering to aid in the clean-up. We are so thankful for God's grace and goodness - even in this storm.
