Then we started feeding him cheesegrits.  He really liked them!

Sick of being Sick!

Daniel has been sick for 7.5 weeks now with one thing or another - well, really since he turned 6 months.  He's had roseola, 3 upper respiratory infections, 4 ear infections, the croup, pink eye, a stomach virus with fever, and I am sure I am leaving something out.  We are exhausted and catching a lot of these sicknesses as well.  Today, Daniel had an appointment with a pediatric ENT and we found out that he needs tubes in his ears.  We were all ready to set the appointment up for next week when the nurse asked, "Has he had bronchitis or the croup lately?"  Well, yes, he had croup last week as a matter of fact!  Unfortunately, we have to wait 6 weeks until we can get tubes per the anesthesiologist.  Bummer.  We have heard that tubes can really make a difference, and were ready to do something quickly for our little buddy.  So - looks like in 5 weeks we will have that opportunity. Please pray that Daniel does not get any major respiratory infections between now and mid-October or the surgery will be delayed again! 

Below is a picture of Daniel with his Daddy.  This is their morning ritual - drinking a bottle (Welles drinks coffee) and watching Disney.  Daniel always insists on being the remote controller!

Lunch with Mama

My friend Wendy and I picked Daniel up from daycare for lunch the other day.  He was in a particularly good mood, and kept the people around us smiling!

Roll Tide Baby!

Today we went to the Alabama vs San Jose State game! My plan was to have Daniel wear the outfit in the above picture.  Many thanks to Bess for the precious outfit.  Unfortunately (as I am sure Bess and other "reflux" mothers will understand) Daniel spit up all over his outfit just before we left Birmingham.  However, Bess was generous many months ago and gave us a precious Alabama onsie.  Thanks again, friend!

We parked downtown and rode a trolley to the stadium - definitely worth $2!

We got to the stadium just in time to see the team arrive at the stadium.

Once we were inside the stadium, we had a snack in the concourse where it was nice and shady (Dreamland barbecue nachos), and then we went inside for pregame.  I want to thank Scotty so much for the tickets.  We enjoyed sitting next to Scotty's friend Wayne and Wayne's sister Shanna.

Daniel was awake for pregame, but fell asleep within the first couple of minutes of the first quarter.  He slept until there were 3 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.  Then, he started cheering! When the fans would cheer, he would stop and look around; but then, wave his hands in the air and sing out.  Don't worry - we had ear plugs in his ears just after the band came out.  I was really amazed that he didn't try to pull out the plugs.

......UPDATE.....

If you can't tell from the above pictures, Daniel was not feeling good.  Today marks 6 weeks that he has had one thing or another.   He was fine Saturday morning, slept all the way to Tuscaloosa, and then had some cold symptoms brewing by the time we got out of the car.  It wasn't until he woke up after his 1st and 2nd quarter nap that his eyes were matted. We left at halftime and were home within an hour.  He woke up at 2AM with a horrible sounding cough and subsequently "tossed his cookies."  Sunday morning we took him to the Children's Acton Road After Hours clinic where he was diagnosed with croup and pink eye.  I guess that's just the way it goes with daycare kiddos. Say prayers of healing and wellness for us, please!

It's Toon Time

I am not ashamed to admit that we do our fair share of cartoon watching.   It has alread been reported on this blog that Daniel LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He also likes Handy Manny and Special Agent OSO.  All three come on first thing in the morning while we are getting ready for work or church. 

It is no surprise that a lot of our conversations now include cartoon characters:

Sherry - "But Goofy says everything silly - it's just how he talks!"
