The boy loves baseball!

Daniel played coach pitch baseball this year. He had the sweetest team, and it was so fun to watch them play! The highlight of the season was when Daniel hit a home run! The video of that home run is terrible, but we were so excited for him!!!

We got a puppy! She's a Miniature Pinscher/ jack Russell terrier mix, and she has brought us some laughter and many smiles.

Farewell to our best friend

Melissa Louise 11/25/2002-1/15/2016

We said goodbye to Melissa Louise on January 15, 2016. Missy was 13 years old, and the perfect dog for our family. We have so many sweet memories of Missy, and are so thankful that she was able to be a part of our life. If you click the label in this blog under the "missy" category, you can read several of the ways she touched our lives. We will never forget our precious Missy Lou.

Even in her last moment on earth, Missy comforted us- her gift. She could tell we were upset and she moved closer to Welles and pressed her nose/head into his chest to give him one last hug.

We will always hold special memories of Missy in our hearts. She is no longer in any pain. She can run free in Dog heaven without a leash or fenced yard. I hope she's enjoying her favorite food once again- cheese grits- because don't you think dogs should be able to eat whatever they want in heaven? She's chasing cats and treeing squirrels. Did you know that Missy even knew the Spanish word for cat and she understood when we spelled C-A-T! She is laying in warm piles of laundry and vacuuming the floors after everyone eats (oh - and begging for food during meals). Missy isn't scared of thunder or fireworks anymore. She is fetching sticks to her heart's content and digging enormous holes.

Another house update

Since we have that cool peninsula fireplace, we decided to get gas logs to finish it off. 

And I couldn't post without including a picture of Missy.  She turned 13 last month, and this is her favorite place these days...

Fixer Upper in Homewood, AL

A lot has changed in the last two years. We now live in Homewood! We bought a house in April 2015, and Within the first five months, we have painted the exterior, the interior, and completely renovated the kitchen. See pictures below for the transformation.
